Ravens Rock the UKCA NI Championships
Tuesday, 12 April 2011 22:50
The Rathgael Ravens took part in the UKCA NI Championships on Saturday 9th April. This was the second year the Ravens have sent a team to the competition and they managed to continue their success from pervious competitions.
The competition was held at the Antrim Forum and was attended by clubs from all over Northern Ireland, and a few from the Republic.
RGTC was represented by the Ravens Youth Squad in the Junior A cheer section, the newly formed Junior Squad in Junior B cheer, and by members of the Senior Squad in the Senior Stunt Group section.
For all of the Junior squad this was their first cheer competition and for a lot of the squad their first competition of any kind. The girls performed well through the nerves and finished in 5th place. It was a good performance for a squad that was only formed this term and hints to bigger and better things to come from them.
Our Senior Stunt Group got the spectators attention with their fast paced routine. The whole hall was in awe watching them perform and the girls where treated like pop stars by other competitors after the event who where amazed by the stunts they performed. They placed 1st in their section and had very positive comments from the judges after the competition.
The Ravens Youth Squad continued their undefeated run by placing 1st in their section. The girls yet again performed an impressive routine which showed their dedication to the sport and the enjoyment they get from it.
The Youth Squad impressed the judges to such a degree that they have been asked to represent the UK at the European Cheerleading Associations Sunshine Cup which is taking place in Slovenia in July. This is a testament to the hard work, and team work that lies within this team. They have gone from strength to strength since their formation last year and the future for them looks very bright.
The coaches would like to say a huge well done to all the girls who took part. It has been an amazing year for the Ravens given that this is their first full year of competition and the future promises to bring more success their way.
The Ravens currently have spaces in their recreational class and limited spots on the squads so if you are interested in joining NI premier cheer club please contact the office for more information.
